Barbican
1960's chalky and flat colour, big, bold structure. High rise living, territorial space, concrete, large scale, strong sense of community, old yet young, past and present living alongside one another. Mass, dominant, brave.

Northcote Road, Battersea

Outside Braemer Antiques - Love the subtle range of colours, think the chipped paintwork and pretty colours sum up the quirky, pretty feel of this little shopping street in south London.

Canary Wharf to Greenwich

From Canary Wharf to Greenwich, underground foot tunnel between Island Gardens and Greenwich.

A journey from the modern to the past, a linkage from new to old, business and tourist/local, high rise and historic, synthetic vs nature, mall to market, ordered to eclectic, high st to vintage... via a modern-day train above the buildings and an aged, rusted foot tunnel under the river.

Photographer Stephen Gill

Kathy and I came across Stephen Gill's work while browsing through a bookshop, his publication 'Hackney Flowers' which gave us the idea to base this years colour project on Neighbourhood Colour. His beautiful atmospheric photographs of his local neighbourhood capture the essence of forgotten areas that pass us by.
